Your trainer: Our veterinary technician, Niki, has been training dogs for over 10 years and is excited to share her joy of training with the puppies of Carver Lake Veterinary Center.
Schedule: Classes are 45 minutes long, scheduled Mondays at 5:15pm. Sessions will run for 6 weeks, with new classes starting around the first week of odd months. Should a class be canceled, we will do our best to schedule a make-up class on the Monday after the session as set to finish.
Classes: We take a positive reinforcement approach to class. There will be lots of fun, treats, and praise. When you sign up for class you will also get a book on puppy training to help you reinforce these same positive behaviors at home!
Cost: $100, includes 6-week session of classes and the book “Perfect Puppy in 7 Days” by Sophia Yin. Payment is expected prior to your first class. No refund is issued for missed classes.
Participants: To keep our class quiet and focused, we ask that only one adult work with the puppy at a time. Another adult is welcome to observe or take turns training. Responsible children over the age of 10 who will be aiding in the pup’s training may also attend, but must always be supervised by an adult. We ask that children under the age of 10 do not attend class.
So classes are fun and safe for all, puppies must…
- be between the ages of 8 weeks and 6 months at the start of class
- be up to date on Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella, and Leptospirosis vaccines (as appropriate for their age)
- have had an intestinal parasites screening showing no parasites during the last 3 months (puppies positive for parasites may be asked to skip the interactive play portion of classes to avoid the spread of parasites)
- be on a monthly parasite preventative and a monthly flea & tick preventative
Due to COVID-19, we are not hosting puppy classes at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation in our area and resume classes when appropriate.
